Clare Boothe Luce, Republican congresswoman, ambassador, and playwright, was the daughter of unmarried violinist and deserter Wm. Franklin Boothe. Through her varied career, she took on communism, sexism, and Nazism. When her friend, actress and legendary suicide Dorothy Hale, threw herself from the sixteenth floor of New York City's Hampshire House, Luce compelled art goddess Frida Kahlo to paint the shocking El Suicidio de Dorothy Hale. In 1953, President Eisenhower named Luce ambassador to Italy. When she met Pope Pius XII, Luce, ignoring America's own ethic about separation of church and state, explained the Church's moral requirement to be tougher on communism. Pope Pius replied, "You know, Mrs. Ambassador, I am a Catholic, too." Seven years later, the United States would elect its first Catholic president.

Making A Purchase Making a purchase could not be easier. Just browse our store, and add any items that you wish to buy into the shopping cart. After you have finished your selection, click on 'Checkout' and you will be asked for a few details that we need to be able to complete the order.
When you choose comics from our Pre-Order or Subscription section the ship date listed on each comic is subject to publisher change.
All orders are in pounds(£) and pence.
You can pay by CHEQUE or POSTAL ORDER, please make them out to Legion of Comics and remember to send a copy of your receipt with your cheque or postal order to the P.O. BOX.
You can pay by using the secure PROTX website or PAYPAL and you don't have to be a member of PAYPAL to use your Debit/Credit cards. Just select the paypal option on the dropdown menu at the check out.
We accept credit/debit card payment. If you are shopping from outside the U.K., place your order and your credit card company will convert the transaction to your own currency.
We accept Visa and Mastercard. When filling out your invoice information please use the address the card is registered at. You may send your credit/debit card information by posting them to the address above or over the Internet.
When confirmation of order is received, this is to indicate that we have received your order. It does not indicate that a contract exists between us. We will indicate acceptance of your order, and hence a contract between us, when we send you an invoice. We have included this term to protect us in the case that a mistake has been made in pricing, we have inadvertently under-priced goods, or we are no longer able to supply a particular product for some reason. In the case of a change of price, we will always contact you first to ensure that the price is acceptable. |
Shipping And Handling All prices include the cost of packaging. STARTING from £1.50 for your first comic sent by standard mail or £2.20 by recorded delivery. These prices apply only to the U.K.
Any international orders will be sent by Air mail plus international signed for and Starting from £6.04 for the first comic.
All pre-ordered and subscriptions comics are charged at £1.50 for each comic, but spend over £3.45 on any pre-ordered comics that are released in the same week or and save £1.50.
trade paperbacks will be charged at a separate rate. |
Delivery Schedule We will normally send your order to you in 3 working days (Not including weekends and Bank Holidays).
However, we do ask all customers to allow up to 15 WORKING days for delivery. International orders are generally received in under 21days.
All trade paperbacks and Graphic novels are ordered direct from our suppliers and can take up to 2 weeks to arrive.
(Trade paperbacks, graphic novels, pre-orders and subscriptions will ship as and when stock arrives.) |
Back Orders Any items that have been ordered and are out of stock will be back ordered from our supplier and sent out at a later date.
You can also re-order selected out of stock comics from us on-line. Once we have received your re-order we will place an order with our supplier.
Delivery times may vary depending how easy it is to get the item, but usually re-ordered and back ordered items arrive in our next delivery, every Thursday.
But in the unlikely event we can’t get the item you wanted, we will give you the option of a refund or you can exchange for an item of the same value.

Subscription Terms HOW TO ORDER
There are two ways to order, The first way is you pay upfront for a set number of comics using the ON-LINE SUBSCRIPTIONS or pre-order sections on the website, for example you could advance order 6 issues of a comic you like and when the comics come out, we will send them out as soon as possible.
The second way is for you to send us an e-mail to specialrequests@legionofcomics.co.uk with the heading subscriptions and a list of comics you want, a shipping schedule i.e. weekly, bi-weekly or end of the month plus your delivery address. Then you pay when the comics come out, I'll send you the comics once I've received a payment from you.
HOW TO PAY
You can pay on-line using the on-line subscription or pre-order sections or I can send you a money request from PayPal, you don't need an account with PayPal to pay as you can pay on-line using a debit/credit card on the PayPal secure website or pay using your account with them.
We also take cheques, just make them out to legion of comics and send them to Legion of comics, PO BOX 437, Euxton, Chorley, PR7 6WQ.
You can cancel anytime you want, so if you bought 6 comics in advance and 2 had been shipped out, I'd refund you the 4 comics and postage cost.
Once the subscription has ended we will send you an E-mail telling you it has ended.
